Residents asked to plant SWEET PEAS for 150th Anniversary
Nearly 100 years ago, Ortonville’s Women’s Civic Organization spent a year polling residents regarding setting an official flower and an official bird for the City of Ortonville.
At their annual flower show at the Amory in Ortonville in 1926, they began the polling. This culminated in the biggest and grandest flower show they had ever produced, the 1927 flower show.
The results were the official flower for the City of Ortonville was the Sweet Pea, and the official bird was the Oriole.
