With snow flurries in the air its a good time to remind everyone of the winter parking restrictions.
City Ordinance 72.07 – Winter Parking Restrictions:
No person, except physicians on emergency calls or other emergency personnel, shall park any vehicle on any street, alley or avenue in the city between November 1 and April 1 after a snowfall with an accumulation of two inches or more of snow. Parking may be resumed on individual streets and avenues as soon as the snow has been removed from these streets and avenues except as may be otherwise restricted by other ordinances.
When the Street Department declares a snow emergency they will notify the police department. At this time the police department will put out a public service announcement over the Everbridge system as well as through our Facebook page.
FAILURE TO REMOVE YOUR VEHICLE FROM THE STREET WILL RESULT IN THE VEHICLE OWNER RECEIVING A TICKET AND TOW BILL THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY BEFORE GETTING YOUR VEHICLE BACK.
You can sign up for the Everbridge system by calling Big Stone County Emergency Management at 320-839-6379 or you can stop by the Ortonville PD or Big Stone County Sheriffs Office and fill it out too.
The video below is taken from the 2018/19 Winter Season – it is quite a process to remove snow with our hills.
